Historical Overview :

Ramnagar is located between The Koshi river and Koshi river Dam. Sakucha,Joniya are it's neighbours village. It falls under Bhagalpur district whose Subdivision is Naugachia and Panchayat is Nagrah. It is an ancient village which came into existence in 1964 (approx.). The village is said to have been earlier located in a desert Bindtoli (now this place is locally called diara). Villagers also said that the devasted flood in 1963 (appx) destroyed the village.  subsequently, the Government of Bihar shifted the whole Villagers to the present location that is Ramnagar.

Knowing the village :

Before 2014 only 3 houses were made of bricks, and others were made of weeds  But after launching the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in 2015, pucca (paved) houses Started  being built under this scheme. About  30 pucca houses have been built till now.The entire infrastructures of the village has been changed after 2015 under PMAY. 

Temple:

 There is an attractive Hindu temple named Ramnagar Hanuman Mandir which is the oldest temple of village village that was built in 1982.  It is said that the land land was donated by a Villager (Shri Ramanand Mahto) for the establishment of the temple.

There is a beautiful statue of Lord Hanuman inside the temple. Lord Rama and Lakshman are seated on the both soldier of Balaji. The statue of Bajrangbali is coloured deep red.

Another charming statue of Baba Kashi is built by the villagers inside the temple. Baba Kashi is riding and fighting with Lion in the statue. The opening ceremony was held for the pran pratistha (establishment) of the statue of Baba Kashi. It is said that Lord Baba Kashi is penates (Kuldevta) of the Bind caste.

The villagers also organised a Mahayagya (Ramdhuni) for 24 hours on 10th July 2020, on the occasion of establishment of the Baba Kashi Shakti Peeth. The Maha Kalash Yatra  began on the same day at 10 am. The immersion program for Kalash Yatra started on the next day with the immersion program of the statue of lord Rama and Krishna.Ramnavami, Maghua Puja, Baisakha Puja and many other festivals are  celebrated in this temple every year.

 

Education and Literacy:

 According to Wikipedia, India's 70% population (in 2011) lives in rural areas. Since,the literacy rate in the rural area is low, the average literacy rate of the village is about 40%. Like other villages the main reason for the low literacy rate of the village is lack of financial freedom and lack of earning resources. The other major reason for the low literacy of the village was lack of educational awareness. The awareness regarding education started in 1998 with the efforts of Shri Baijnath Mahto.

In view of the above said difficulties regarding education,Shri Baijnath Mahto donated 1 katha of land for the construction of an elementary school.  The Honorable M.P of Bhagalpur district (Shri Rana Yadav) helped and completed the entire construction work of the school. Some of the difficulties of education were resolved after the foundation of primary school Bindtoli.  But the main problem of educational awareness was properly solved by the Government of India,By launching the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Scheme in 2002.

 About the villagers:

 There are about 800 people(including children) in this village. There are mainly two castes in this village.  The first one is Bind and the second is Mallah (Majhi). 

The Villagers Mainly depend on agriculture and animal husbandry.  Villagers who have no land work as a laborer or mason in outskirts like Delhi, Punjab etc. Another main occupation of the villagers is fishing. Since, Ramnagar is situated on the banks of the Koshi River. 30 houses depend on catching and selling fish in the market.

 There are few shops in this village in which the oldest is next to the main road near the temple. Two are in the middle path of the village.

Requirements of village :

Although the village is near the Koshi river,there is no industrial area i.e. no source of income available in the village except farming, animal husbandry and fishing.

Lack of awareness about the Government schemes. No Government scheme is given without giving bribe. This is the most dangerous and poisonous problem of the village that must be solved by the Government of Bihar as soon as possible. For instance, The main paved concrete road isn't completed since 2018, PMAY is not being given without giving bribe. It is strange to hear but it's true. Most of the villages of Bihar have been affected by the above mentioned reason.This major obstacle must be removed by the Government of Bihar to develop the village Ramnagar.

There's a primary School in the village, despite this the primary education isn't being given in the right format by the teachers of primary school Bindtoli. They come to school without any time table. They just pass the time, hence the basic knowledge of the children is getting low day by day.
